Fidonet Portal
an operator that still does not understand the importance of maintaining
seen-bys.
May I please ask any of you that still keep a link to 1:140/1 to cut that
link ASAP?
As far as we can see, the recent dupe link is caused by Ward, keeping his
link to Black Hole Bob. But please, the rest of you (I don't think we'll ever
be able to convince Ward to cut that link), the sooner you disconnect Bob from
the Fidoweb, the sooner we'll get rid of any dupe loops.

There are no more duplicate net's between the zones, so there is no problem!

TK> I've never had any problems with my link to Bob. It has been up for a

Bob has been, is and probably will continue losing individual mail messages.
He's got a complicated set-up and sometimes produces "short archives". This
happens when PKZIP or whatever is still handling the archive and he's got
another process which already is transfering it to his outbound ... in which
case the archive-file is incomplete and will contain grunged messages ... or
not even at all.
Here are some examples from the D'Bridge logfile:
02/07/2013 14:51 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.TH1" erased
04/18/2013 11:30 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.TH2" erased
06/20/2013 07:30 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.WE7" erased
02/04/2014 08:27 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.TU0" erased
04/30/2014 23:30 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.WEC" erased
06/06/2014 01:30 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.TH4" erased
11/19/2014 23:41 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.WE4" erased
11/20/2014 03:30 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.WE6" erased
11/30/2014 14:32 Short archive "EAC1B2AD.SU6" erased
I've received zero-length archives as well.
There have been cases of ZONE-files going missing on his system too.
This was mentioned to ZC1 who responded "We've known for a long time that Bob
loses mail..." and then went on with her usual business. I decline to release
the identity of this ZC1...

So why do you still want to keep your link with Bob?

That's where one loses the mail ... but it only becomes obvious when
attentively following an echomail-conference which follows that track.

I was trying to find out by directly asking you. Is there another way? ;)

NET_DEV
SYSOP
MYSTIC

That was a seasonal beer. We'll have to see next autumn if it will be available
again. My own stock didn't last very long. ;)
I discovered a new dutch beer I like very much:
http://www.jopenbier.nl/bieren/jopen-ongelovige-thomas/
It's a heavy beer, with a fruity taste. I will be enjoying one later tonight!

I have a number of them connected with you, and also other links, so they are
already on the fidoweb. So if Bob route fails you should get it from other
sources.
But NET_DEV? Are you still connected? Beginning this year you wrote in that
area:
WD> With just monthly moderator-rules as content, this echo is useless.
WD> I'm outta here.
And send a disconnect message to my areafix. You changed your mind?

Not only the loop is a problem. I just got a netmail from North America, that
took some 4 days to get here. The via lines:
@Via 1:.../... @20150506.021605.UTC ...
@Via 1:120/544@fidonet @20150506.021618.00.UTC mbfido 0.92.0

@Via D'Bridge 3.99 2:292/854 05/09 01:30
It's not absolute proof, but the delays are centered around 140/1...
I think that speaks for it self. :-/

simple fix is to stop binkp while tossing
hard fix is more complicated depending on OS and life
